What is a Pre IVF Baseline Scan?

A pre IVF baseline scan is a pelvic ultrasound that examines the uterus, ovaries, cervix and other surrounding structures. It is performed during the investigation into infertility and also when IVF or other assisted reproductive therapies are being considered for the future. This also includes patients considering egg freezing, egg donation and surrogacy.

The scan is designed to assess the health of the pelvic organs. It also assists in the assessment of a patient’s suitability for IVF and assisted reproductive therapies. It may uncover issues that require consideration or treatment prior to the commencement of any assisted reproduction.

The scan is performed in the same manner as a general pelvic ultrasound. Further information regarding a pelvic ultrasound can be found here.
